Corona Virus

How is your career choice affected by this pandemic? How has your career internship placement company been affected by the Corona Virus pandemic? Please include details of if anyone is able to work from home or if people have been laid off, etc. Please reach out to your mentor to find out this information and also see how this has affected their daily life as well.

Obviously the Corona Virus has impacted jobs all across the board. With me being placed at a school interning with a Speech Language Pathologist, Governor Tim Walz has the final say as to when I will be going back onsite. As of now District 206 will be partaking in Distance Learning at least until May 4th. With that being said Karri Stallman (SLP) has been working from home like most other teachers. She is trying to give the students things that they will be able to do online as much as possible. Karri still has to write reports on the students progress so she is also using video calls to meet the face to face seat time requirement. Other then that she is staying home conquered down with her family and dogs!!

Back when I was in speech in elementary school I worked with Karri and I remember that most of the activities would be physical things like cards and stuff like that. I would imagine it is difficult to try and come up with new activates and also to hear her students clearly with online learning.

Yeah it seems like everyone is being effected by this pandemic. I hope we can get back to school soon just because its our senior year and we deserve to be finishing it in the classroom not at home. I hope that you mentor is doing well and same too you.

Hopefully you are able to get back with your mentor, if we go back to school. I'm sure it feels weird not seeing your mentor or the kids she helps. Hopefully this time of distance learning can allow to get a head start on your final project.
