What Career & Why?

Updated: Feb 25, 2020

What is your 1st choice when it comes to a career? What specifically do you want to do within that career? What made you choose that career?

I am planning on becoming a Speech Language Pathologist after obtaining my masters degree in Speech Language Hearing Sciences. I have not decided whether I want to work in a school, hospital, or have my own private practice. However, I do know that I have a passion centered around kids. I have hopes that this career internship will help me with my decision of where I want to work. I chose this career pathway because I have always had the thought of being a teacher, but my parents have always discouraged me. I love how SLP's have the ability to teach and help people everyday with a smaller teacher to student ratio. I was also placed with two SLP's throughout CAPS, these placements went very well and felt very natural.

I loved hearing about your thought process when it comes to choosing a career - I definitely think that you are a perfect fit for speech language pathology. My older sister went on the same path as you are, and she ended up loving her job everyday, and I know you will too!
