Where are you doing your mentorship? Who are you doing your mentorship with? Tell us in-depth about the history of the company and about your mentor and their position.

I am doing my mentorship at Discovery Middle School with Karri Stallman. She is a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) within the school district. She is the only SLP at DMS, but 2-3 days out of the week a SLP assistant from Voyager elementary comes and helps Karri with her busy schedule. Karri majored in Speech Language and Hearing Sciences at MSUM, then followed those 4 years with obtaining her Masters. This Masters degree is was accredits her to work as a Speech Language Pathologist.
The career of Speech Pathology was first recognized in the 1920's. Soon after it became widespread as soldiers from WWII were returning home with brain injuries. Now Speech therapy is looked at to be an extremely powerful thing, as it teaches valuable skills that ultimately make or break one's success.
I didn't know that to become a speech language pathologist you needed a master's. It seems like a very interesting mentorship.
I was very intrigued on the history behind speech pathology. I hope you continue to learn new things on speech pathology and what the career has to offer.
